Battery Storage System Installers In Essex
How Does A Battery Storage System Work?
A battery storage system operates by storing electricity sourced from either the grid or a solar panel system until it is needed at the property or can be exported back to the grid. Upon reaching the battery, the electricity is in the form of Direct Current (DC). To power household appliances, an inverter switches it to Alternating Current (AC), allowing for consumption. The battery system can also meet the energy requirement of the property if there isn’t enough solar energy available. Battery storage can be added as either AC Coupled or via a Hybrid Inverter.
The Benefits Of Installing A Battery Storage System
-
Is It Worth Installing Solar Panels Alongside Your Battery Storage System?
Installing solar panels alongside your battery storage system will allow you to generate your own electricity, severing the reliance on grid electricity. A fully connected system will allow you to store excess solar generated electricity which can be used at later times or sold back to the grid under the SEG Scheme.
-
Electricity During Powercuts
Installing a battery storage system allows you to store excess electricity which can be used in the event of a power cut. Many homeowners who benefit from this solution live in remote areas where grid electricity is unreliable. You either have a whole house system or an Emergency Power Supply (EPS) where only certain key items will run if the power cuts, such as your boiler, lights, wifi or home phone.
-
Import Your Electricity For Less
Modern battery storage systems have integrated software that allows users to acquire electricity for less. This is achieved by importing electricity throughout the night during off peak hours at cheaper rates, before storing the electricity and using throughout the day.
-
0% Vat from 01/02/2024
Battery storage is now available at 0% VAT, making it more accessible for homeowners looking to enhance their energy efficiency. This comes as a welcome opportunity following the UK government's recent announcement in late December 2023. The declaration outlined plans to provide tax relief specifically for standalone home battery storage systems that are installed starting from 1st Feb 2024. It's an ideal moment to consider upgrading your home energy setup and reaping the benefits of these incentives.
-
AC Coupled Battery System
An AC coupled battery system is a great option if your home isn’t suitable for solar panels. The Battery Storage System can still be programmed to import electricity at off peak hours which allows you to import electricity at cheaper rates, resulting in saving money on your electricity bills.
-
Control Through An App
Most smart battery storage systems contain integrated software platforms that allow you to connect to through an App. This allows you to view the statistics and data regarding your electricity usage and import volumes which allows you to make decisions about your importing and exporting arrangements

Battery Storage System Installation Process
-
Step 1 - About You
The first stage of our design process is to find out what you are looking to achieve a new battery storage system. We will take detail of your current energy usage, energy tariff and any existing solar panels or battery storage. We will also discuss possible solutions.
-
Step 2 - Survey
During our visit to your property we will look at the possible locations for fitting the battery storage, taking into account space available, weight loading, ventilation and safety. We will discuss the merits of different locations with you and look at possible cable runs.
-
Step 3 - Recommendation
Based on everything we discovered during our fact finding process we will recommend a suitable battery storage system to fit the size, space and usage requirements. We recommend a battery size to meet your winter shortfall of energy. Our quote will include system performance and payback times.
-
Step 4 - Final Checks
If you are happy to proceed with installation we will schedule a date and with you and agree the fitting timescales. We will then order the equipment and apply for permission from the DNO that looks after your property.
-
Step 5 - Installation
If your battery storage system is apart of a solar panel installation, we will install the combined system altogether. On average solar panel or battery storage installation takes between 3-4 days. If we are installing the battery storage without solar panels, installation would take 1-2 days. Our work is completed in line with Part A of the Buildings Regulations, Part P Electrical Compliance and MCS standards.
-
Step 6 - Guarantee & Aftercare
Once installation has been completed we will complete a full hand over of the system. This will include function, safety and use. We will install the app onto your phone and show you how to use and monitor the system. Next we will issue all the certification required to meet MCS standards. During our meeting we will discuss the options for your import and export tariffs and help you set up the SEG.
Earn Money From Your Battery Storage Installation In Essex
The Government backed smart export guarantee (SEG) allows you to sell any excess electricity back to the grid that you have generated through a renewable source. The electricity is sold at an agreed rate which enables you to earn an additional income.
